Knowledge Does NOT Equal Wisdom

Junot Diaz an MIT Professor and also associated with Harvard recently said--"I teach classes everyday and I can tell you there is absolutely NO correlation between knowledge and wisdom."  Jeff here in our office said, after passing the rigorous mult-year CFP(r) (certified financial planner) program and examination 6 years ago and then coming to work here in our office, that "I didn't know how to DO financial planning.  I had lots of information from the study programs and books but no practical experience or knowledge to apply it in the real world."

Well if there is something our world needs now it is Wisdom.  THE reason I attend conferences around the world and country is to gather with wisdom seekers and share and support one another.  Information overload is killing us.  As an example just go to yellowpages.com and try to find someone in OKC who does financial planning and look for Access Financial Resources, Inc.  Page 7 or later you might find us.

Also try to google search certified financial planner OKC see how far you have to go before you get past the search companies and the paid for companies.  It's crazy and harder than ever to find the needle in the haystack.  It can almost always be found BUT not without a high level of effort and discernment.

That is why referrals of a loved one or friend to another professional are so valuable to both the giver and receiver.  Thanks to all those who have ever referred us to another.  We hope that connected and compassionate WISDOM is what they came away with and not just another name in a google search or empty box of platform cookie cutter answers.

How does one recognize wisdom and improve discernment?  What can we do to improve our chances of connecting with a wise counselor when needed, be it for plumbing or brain surgery?
