When it comes to paying for college here are a few things we have found--
1) Our IT consultant got a 4 year degree in 3 years and under $10,000. Anyone can afford a degree if they want one and are motivated
2) Most parents primary education goal is for their children to be able to provide for themselves and become independent. Secondarily is that they will LOVE what they do.
3) In Oklahoma the BEST freshman graduation rate is 39% from OSU.
4) National studies indicate only 25% of people who
graduate get a job in their degree field.
5) A recent Economist magazine article suggests that college graduates are some of the most unhappy people since their expectations of getting a job, high debt rate and shortage of opportunities makes for a bad combo. They also mentioned that the current college education system is based upon industrial age thinking and systems.
6) Futurist Dennis Stearns reports that 30% of the jobs that exist today will not be here 10 years from now.
Below is a link to an article talking about the results (unintended I think) of paying for college.

Under whatever circumstances, the goal is to help your student discover their talent, and deploy that talent in as creative forward thinking way as economically and emotionally effective as possible. WHEW! That's a mouthful but this is really important stuff. The money part is the easiest. Good luck...
