Yesterday morning at 10:00 am Noah and I went to see THE HOBBIT in 3D. There were a couple of things I noticed about the experience--we had the theatre to ourselves and even with the child rate it cost $18 for two people.
The point of this blog post however, is to quote a line from the movie spoken by Gandalf the wize wizard. First you need to practice saying "ordinary" like the British might. Rather than 4 syllables use 3 and say it like "ordnery". Now picture the tall gray bearded wizard with the pointy wizard hat saying--
"It takes ordinary people doing ordinary things to hold back the darkness."
The HOBBIT pictured above is Bilbo Baggins a quintessential example of an ordinary person desiring to live an ordinary life. He, by reluctantly deciding to leave the comforts of home and join the "adventure", was able to do just as the wizard suggested.
I recently attended a town hall meeting regarding the new proposed boulevard design for downtown OKC. There were many Bilbo Baggins types there but most seemed to have a very personal financial interest in the project. This morning I heard from the president of Downtown OKC that--"Some of the decisions we make today will effect OKC for the next 50 years. Many of these choices we will only get to make once so it is important to get it right."
Our city has long been reputed to be run by the "good ole boys". No doubt they and their politcal appointees are working to get what they want. What are the ordinary people doing to get what they want?
HAVE A GREAT 2013!!!
