Do Whatcha Can

While standing in the parking lot on aNurse beautiful spring morning, looking at the new car (1 year old that is) this mid eighties retired nurse wanted to show-off--she offered up an unexpected pearl.  Laughing out loud while listening to her new satellite radio comedy station she said people would think she was crazy.  I said--"Well at least you can drive to the looney bin in style.  It's still in Norman right?"
And that is where the story started…

As it turns out she did her psychiatric nurse training at the hospital in Norman.  She said she had a hard time talking with the patients so instead she brought her hair clippers and sheet music.  They loved her cutting their hair and especially enjoyed listening to her play the piano.

The legend, according to her instructor, is that she would not have passed the course had she not found a way to connect with the patients.  Her doing what she could, even though she could not do everything they asked the way they wanted, paved the way for her to becoming a registered nurse.

She successfully demonstrated that old saying—Perfection is the greatest obstacle to progress. This magnificent human did not let perfection get in the way by calling on HER natural resources, where she likely had a greater impact on the patients than the traditional curriculum.

INSPIRING!!
