Power to the People!

If there’s one thing I’d love to see happen in the world, it would be having regular people (just your run-of-the-mill, everyday Americans), who I feel have been completely overlooked over the years, taking back their power.

How? By voting Wells Fargo out of business one at a time by closing their accounts.

It wouldn’t cost much money at all, but can you image the reaction that would occur on Wallstreet if that happened?  The American people shut down one of the biggest companies in the world because they said: “We’re done!”

Talk about the shot that would be heard around the world!

This is a country by the people, for the people, of the people…So where the heck are the people?? Why is nobody demanding change? Why have we as a population become so apathetic?

Go to Violation Tracker: Wells FargoYou will see over $17 billion in fines and 129 violations since 2000.  These violations included things like setting up accounts in the customers name in order to charge fees for insurance and other things the “customer” (aka victim) did not want.

Who do you think paid those fines - Wells Fargo?  Uh, no.  Customers, primarily - and secondarily shareholders.

Let Wells Fargo executives pay by going to jail (none of whom did by the way) or losing their jobs when the company gets smaller and smaller due to customer activism.

In August the Business Roundtable put out a new statement on the purpose of a corporation. This new statement (signed onto by 180 CEO’s, including Wells Fargo) is a reminder of a prior statement that said, "The purpose of a corporation is to generate profits for shareholders."

(Apparently no matter what it takes and at whose cost.)

As customers - now stakeholders according to the new statement of purpose - it's time for us to flex our muscles. After all, WE the people are the ones who have the real power. We need to feel that power as we take these companies up on their offer by sending them a message.

Vote with your money by making changes that don’t include the likes of Wells Fargo.

Why am I picking on Wells Fargo? Because that company has chosen the path that's lead to it showing up regularly in my inbox with some variation of bad behavior.  That, along with the significant impact Wall Street financial firms have on the world and BAM, makes it the perfect company to use as a messenger on behalf of the customer.

And that message is clear: "Listen up, Wall Streetwe are finished being taken advantage of and WE do have the power."
