This falls into the category of--You just can't make this stuff up! Last week on a call with a sweet couple from out of town they reported a large (in their opinion) expenditure of note.
It seems there commode was in need of replacing and therein lies the story. I guess when I am 88 my priorities might change a bit, but until then we all were howling and gigling about the features and benefits of the new technology in toilets. "This toilet is 3" taller and did you know it has a feature where the lid won't slam?" Well let's just say they were extremely pleased with their new extravagance.
This got me to thinking about how we define extravagance since for this retired surgeon couple a $1,000 toilet was NOT going to put their financial plan at risk. However, this type of thinking is why they are able at age 88 to spend lavishly on such wild and crazy technology as a new TOILET!
What do we need to be doing NOW to be able to say that a $1,000 toilet is an affordable extravagance at age 88?
