The Age of Aquarius

In Jr. High School chorus,  sounds weird to say now, we sang this song (Aquarius) in addition to others like "Rubber Duckie".  Here is a link if you want to see the lyrics and be reminded of the Pop Chart hit of 1969.    http://www.elyrics.net/read/0-9/5th-dimension-lyrics/age-of-aquarius-lyrics.html  That's enough nostalgia so on to today 11-11-11.  This is a date that for many is considered the beginning date for the Age of Aquarius and the end of the Piscean Age.
Now I'm not into astrological signs and stuff like that but let's assume for a minute that TODAY is the beginning of the time of AWARENESS versus the era we are told is being left behind--that of INFORMATION.
Lately we have been asking ourselves and others what skills and characteristics would be desirable in this new era.
The picture is from a book by Bernard Lietaer called "Of Human Wealth"  (beyond scarcity and greed).  In this part of the book he talks about how our money system is primarily male (in the blue circle) based and repressive of the feminine.  SO--the feminine characteristics (in the pink circle) could be more beneficial going forward.
Some suggest Gandhi who famously said "Be the change you want to see in the world."  would now say "Do the change you want to see in the world."  Here are 4 things we all can do during a time of transition--

1. Have a daily spiritual practice. Every spiritual tradition has one thing in common: a daily practice. This can be many different things: meditation, prayer, contemplation, exercise, journaling, etc. It is not important what you are doing, but that you do something almost every day, and do it with an intention to let go of your blocks and focus your consciousness.
2. Don’t give in to fear, despair, or anger. There is so much happening that can trigger these emotions: the media, the environment, politics, terrorism, etc.
3. Don’t be a victim. You have the power to change your life. Don’t give that power away to anyone through blame or resentment. You are responsible for your happiness and grace. Don’t buy into any view of reality in which you are not 100% responsible for making your life work.
4. Be a source of light. The more people who consciously choose to embrace these different qualities, the easier this transformation will go for humanity. It is a spiritual truth that a small percentage of people who have shifted their consciousness can influence the rest of humanity.  Find a way to spread your light: teach, heal, create community networks, serve, sacrifice, love.
I sent an email yesterday to a Bulgarian friend who has twin 14 year old daughters and asked him "What life skills are you teaching your girls?"  How about you?
